It’s TIP Talk Time!

Each spring the North Florida TPO updates the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) list of road, transit, airport, seaport, bicycle and pedestrian projects for the next five years. The 2015/16 – 2019/20 TIP schedules funding for environmental studies, design, right-of-way, utility work and construction. The draft TIP was posted online for review April 9, 2015 and we want your thoughts on the planned projects.

Borland-Groover Clinic Issues ChargeWell Challenge

Just in time for Earth Day 2015, the Borland-Groover Clinic announces that they now offer free electric car “fill-ups” at their office near I-95 and J Turner Butler Boulevard. The office at 4800 Belfort Road has installed four EVlink charging stations that are available seven days per week. This free service is for patients, staff, neighbors or anyone who comes by.

CNG Service Tech Training Program Begins April 20 at First Coast Technical College

In response to the growth of alternative fuels in Florida, First Coast Technical College (FCTC) has created adult continuing educational courses for the professional service technician covering compressed natural gas (CNG). This five-day hands-on course is designed for the professional technician or automotive student and will teach them safety, service procedures, CNG vehicle fueling systems, the nature of gaseous fuels, and how to properly examine the various types of CNG cylinders and installations.

The North Florida Transportation Planning Organization (North Florida TPO) and Clean Fuels Coalition hosted the 2015 Florida Alternative Fuel Vehicles (AFV) Expo February 19 at the University of North Florida’s Adam W. Herbert University Center. More than 100 attendees gathered to experience the latest AFV’s, learn about alternative fuel and electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, and hear success stories from companies who have switched to alternative fuels.

St. Augustine Commissioner Nancy-Sikes Kline will continue as chairman, Jacksonville City Council Member Doyle Carter as vice chairman and Clay County Commissioner Diane Hutchings as treasurer.

TPO Begins St. Augustine Commercial Vehicle Truck Loading and Delivery Study

The City of St. Augustine and the North Florida TPO are developing a commercial delivery management plan that provides adequate travel routes and parking locations for commercial delivery vehicles, without negatively affecting visitor traffic, historic properties, congestion, noise and air pollution in St. Augustine. A kickoff meeting will be held with the Parking and Traffic Committee at 10 a.m. October 28 in the Alcazar Room.
