The North Florida TPO provides research, planning and funding for bicycle and pedestrian needs. The TPO works with planning staff from the City of Jacksonville and Clay, Nassau and St. Johns counties to ensure bicycle and pedestrian needs are considered in local transportation plans.
Recently the TPO updated the Regional Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan. The study includes an analysis of survey results, subarea zone priorities and regional route needs, as well as an assessment of relevant land development codes and guidelines for mid-block pedestrian crossings.
The Florida Bicycle Association provides information and advocacy for the bicycling community. The League of American Bicyclists awarded the City of Jacksonville an Honorable Mention in the Bicycle Friendly Community program in 2009 and 2010.
