Transit

Mass transit is an integral part of our transportation system, providing options for those who can't or don't want to drive every day, while reducing congestion and auto emissions. Public transit services in our area are operated by the Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA). JTA operates fixed route bus and connecting shuttles services, four trolley lines and the Skyway automated transit system.  A bus rapid transit (BRT) system is in development. JTA is currently studying additional mass transit options including streetcars and commuter rail. Funding for the development of these services is included in the 2035 Long Range Transportation Plan .

The Sunshine Bus Company , a division of the St. Johns County Council on Aging, operates in St. Johns County from St. Augustine to connections with the JTA bus system in Jacksonville Beach. Clay County Transit is operated by the Council on Aging of Clay County.
